President
Proctor- Congrats to VP Al-Greene and the senators for a successful
SGA retreat. I had a meeting with Scott Cox with Public Relations this week on
the issue of the mass emails. We are working on pursuing a policy on filtering
the emails. I will be attending a meeting about the Bell Tower Dedication on
Tuesday at 2:30. There will also be a meeting for the conservational efforts in
room 222. If anyone is interested in serving on the library committee, please
let me know. I will be passing around a sheet for signups for anyone who would
be interested in attending meetings with the EC, if you want to get to know us
better and work closer with us.
Vice
President Al-Greene- We will be electing committee chairs in
New Business
Treasurer
Baldwin- This Wednesday at 5:00, we will be having the informational
meeting to explain the process of applying for appropriations. On Sept. 3rd
at 5:00, the packets are due in the SGA office and the Appropriations Committee
will meet to discuss all the packets. One Sept. 9th from 4-7 p.m.,
we will have the Pre-Budget meeting for all the senators to go over the packets
and make sure there are no questions or concerns so that the budget meeting
will not last 3 hours. On Sept. 13th at 8:00, we will have the first
budget meeting. The location is tentative and the attire is business. The
second chance meeting is on Sept. 20th at 8:00.
Attorney
General Macon- The Traditions Committee will be
meeting on Wednesday. Tomorrow is College Colors Day. I of the officers and I
senator will be attending. The Duck Sale tickets came in today. We will start
selling them this week. I will put them in your boxes. We have to turn them in
on Sept. 28. Senators will probably be required to sell 10 tickets per person.
The person that sells the most tickets state-wide will get a $300 prize. The
first away game is on Sept. 28. Tickets are on sale in the Mitchell Center.
They are $8 for students and there are only 350 tickets to be sold.
Chief
Justice Troy Shephard- I met with the JagTran people and we
have an idea for improving the routes. We will be sending out a survey for
students. If you have any ideas on what kinds of questions you would like for
there to be on the survey, let me know.
Student
At Large Pittman- (Report is in Committee Reports)
Special
Orders
Dean
Mitchell- Thursday is the first pep rally. It
will be at 7:30 on the Mitchell Center steps by the jaguar. Saturday is our
first game of the season. The student entrance will be at 1E. If there is a
problem with your Jag ID, you will be directed to another gate where there is a
list of current students. If your name is not on the list, you will have to pay
for a ticket. Parking passes are still on sale.
Robin
Jones-The mass email issue is an issue for students and faculty.
We are trying to work with PR to get new policies and procedures. We are also
looking at other universities and their policies on this issue. Get on Board
Day is this Thursday from 11-1 in the north lobby of the Student Center.
Committee
Reports
Pittman-
The IPC Dinner is on Sept. 22 at 5:00. The speaker will be
Mr. Sprinkles. I will be sending out an invitation on Facebook, so please RSVP.
Presidents are required to come, but students are welcome to come as well.
Phone calls will be made to all presidents the week after Labor Day to make
sure they are coming. We will pass around a list in here so senators can sign
up.
Perry-
I will be sending around signups for the following things: We need a few of you to help Eric
Stuart. He will be doing football promotions in the Market tomorrow from 11-2. We
need several people to sit at the SGA table on Get on Board Day. I need to know
if you’re going to the Pep Rally and if you’re going to the Block Party that’s
after the Pep Rally. Tonight after the meeting, we will be having our Senate
Goal Session.
Cecelia
Martin- We want more students to get involved with assessments. We
are in the process of getting a survey together for students in the spring for
our SACS Accreditation. The survey will be for first year students and seniors.
Response in 2009 was very low so we want to have a campaign to get more
involvement. We will be accepting any input you may have.
Dean
Mitchell- Mrs. Martin manages our Homecoming and Senate Elections. If
you are interested in serving with helping her, please let her know.

Mahaffey-
I decline my nomination.
Jones- I nominate Sen. Gessner for Student Affairs (decline)
Perry- I nominate Sen. Pearson for Student Affairs.
Sells- I move to close the floor.
Al-Greene-For Rules, Sen. Hall was unopposed. For
Appropriations, we have Wheat and Sells
Sells- I apologize for not being at the retreat. I am an RA
and we were not allowed to leave campus this weekend. I was heavily involved
with appropriations last year and I was Appropriations Chair this summer. So I
know what it takes to get the job done.
Wheat- This is my first year as a senator. I will be
graduating in the spring. I worked with appropriations over the summer and I
really enjoyed it. I am hardworking and I will work hard at this position if I
get it.
Al-Greene-For Legal Affairs, we have Beovich and Schneider.
Beovich- This is my second year as a senator. I was Legal
Affairs Chair over the summer. Basically, we would be making changes with the
bylaws, if legal to do so.
Schneider- I have no idea what I would be doing in this
position, but I am a fast learner and if I get it, it would be a good start for
me and I good way to get more involved and learn more.
Al-Greene-For Governmental
Affairs, we have Husain, Tanner, Wilson, and Youngblood.
Husain-This is my first year as a senator. I’m a junior and
I’m hoping to serve another year. I want more experience and want to be more
involved.
Proctor- Please tell us how you would work with Cameron and help
him.
Husain-I am willing to help him with whatever he needs. He
can call me at any time.
Perry-What specific plans have you made?
Husain-None right now.
Tanner-I was the Governmental Affairs Chair over the summer.
I attended the Higher Education retreat. We are shooting for 250 people attend
Higher Ed Day this year. So, we want to get the word out more. I will be
attending College Colors Day. I think that the more committee meetings that we
have and the more we work together, the better. We also need to work on
planning ahead.
Perry-You want to increase advertisement?
Tanner-Yes, we could put our sheet signs, posters, tables
around campus, and work on getting lots of contacts.
Wilson-I am very organized. I went on the retreat this
summer. I want to make sure that we have regular meetings, increase publication
with the Vanguard, and I plan to help Cameron stay organized.
Perry-Any specific plans?
Wilson-I want to try to get as many people as possible
coming to Higher Ed. Day.
Al-Greene- Sen. Youngblood is not here tonight. For Student
Affairs, we have Pearson and Jones. Pearson is not here, but keep him on the
ballot.
Jones-This is my second year as a senator. I am heavily
interested in improving student life and I would do a good job.
Al-Greene- There is a run-off for Gov. Affairs between
Wilson and Tanner. Please vote again.
