Officer
Reports
President
Proctor- Welcome
back. Charlene Hale from USA Today came out last Wednesday and did a campaign
for the USA Readership. Thank you to the senators and officers who came to
help. To follow up on GLBTA Resolution, the administration is drafting up a
policy to put in place what our requests were for that, and we will have a
meeting in two or three weeks to discuss the results. On the committee, Dr.
Smith chairs it, Gene Tucker, Dr. Johnston, and Dr. Conners; Dr. Conners and I
are huge advocates. Parts of the policy are already in handbook, they just want
to make sure it is covered across the board.
Vice
President Al-Greene-
Thank you to those who came out to the Gumbo Chili Cook off. Also, we have
about $40,000 left, so be thinking of Senate Projects.
Treasurer
Baldwin- There
is $40,290.27 left in the Operating Budget. Keep in mind, we will be funding
Higher Ed Day next week, so it is a little
less than that, but it still it is too much money to be left in the
account.
Attorney
General Macon-
Just a reminder, April 7th is Higher Ed Day. Sign up after meeting,
if you have not done so. For going, you will get SGA office hours. Bridgette
says she will give 10 service hours per person in Greek Organizations.
Chief
Justice Shephard-
I met with the police chief. He says the main crime on campus is people leaving
cars unlock and having valuable items out in open. He wanted me to relay to you
all to put it away. Also, he wants to work with the SGA. If you have any
projects, contact him. He is very open, and he wants to work with us.
Special
Orders
Dean
Mitchell-
no report.
Committee
Reports
Proctor- On the back of
your agenda, will be the ballot that everyone will be receiving. We had 10 students not show up to the
mandatory meeting. Information on the mandatory meeting was on the campus-wide
email that went out and on the application. So, there are no excuses not to be
there or to not have had a representative. But those students have right to
appeal. In our code of laws, it says to be there or have a representative.
Also, can someone please make a motion to approve $600 for pizza for forum
tomorrow. Also, we will announce winners of the election on the Bell Tower
stairs. We will need a DJ. We were
hoping to get the guys from Jaguar Productions to come setup their stuff where
we can have a microphone for the speakers. I don’t think they charge student
groups a fee. We really only need to set aside $300 to do this.
Sells-
As
a point of information, it is about $15 an hour to rent out JP.
Proctor-
Just
to announce some important dates, the candidate forum is tomorrow at 7:30pm. We
decided to invite the Chief Justice and Attorney Genera since they invest so
much into SGA. Encourage your friends and organizations to come out to know who
is coming into SGA. We will send out ballots Monday, April 4. Cecilia Martin
will send them out. If you have any questions, let her know.
Pro
Tempore Perry-
Thank you to all those who came out; especially Jessica McHaffey, who cooked
all the chili. The med students loved ya’ll! LePointe helped Jessica a lot
Saturday as well. I will give you hours if you came. A lot of people need
office hours. If you went to the Spring Scrimmage, I will give you hours. We
got tons of money we need to use it. We will figure out how to do whatever ya’ll
want to. I have heard from several senators about this thing called Redbox, if
you want to help with that, we are going to meet Wednesday, but the time hasn‘t
been set yet.
Al-Greene-
Special
Student Services moved to a new building, so go see if they need anything.
Contact Angela Avery if have any new ideas you want to run with.
Johnston-
Homecoming
is already in the planning. They are wanting people to go to the meetings and
be thinking of ideas.
Hall-
I
need to meet with the Rules Committee next meeting to discuss the absences.
Sells-
I
would like to discuss improvements to be made. I will Facebook you all times

Announcements
Proctor-
I
would like to announce the senators who are on the Election Committee:
Johnston, Sells, Miller, Gessner, myself, and Robin Jones and Dean Mitchell.
Faculty and staff will be patrolling the area. We are going to have an
infraction form online. You don’t have to put your name if you reported, but
please help us patrol. Also, if I need to meet with the committee after the meeting.
Schneider- CSA is having a
bake sale tomorrow. The proceeds are going to the To Be Choices for Women. We
are also accepting baby items.
Pearson-
Intramurals
also needs a new gator to carry stuff around. It’s about $6,000.
Johnston-
There
is a list of potential homecoming themes on the SGA group. We just want
feedback, so please go look at that.
Sells-
To
go off what chief justice was saying, the Police Chief is doing a luncheon
every Wednesday at 11 to be completely open to the students. This is something
new, and I think it is a wonderful idea. Secondly, Lesser Taught Languages is
going to offer American Sign Language in the Fall. Sign up if you are
interested. It will be a basic class.
Ramsey-
The
College of Engineering needs new welding and safety equipment. I know te
equipment is poor quality, and that is not a good thing to be lacking. They
want to see what SGA would be willing to fund for them, so they might be coming
to a meeting.
Proctor-
I
have been contacted by Exercise Science students for wireless in their
building. Carly, the might be something you would like to head up.
Perry-
The
ladies of AOPi are having their softball tournament 11-3pm on Saturday.
Thursday, if you go eat at Buffalo Wild Wings, the proceed will go to patients
with premature arthritis. Friday is their carwash.
Hall-
Will
we get office hours for going?
Perry-
It’s
a good cause, so no.
