Press Release : SGA Retreat
After the first week of classes in the fall semester, the annual SGA retreat will be held at the Gulf Shores Holiday Inn Express, in Orange Beach, AL. Specifically, the retreat will be on the 28th and the 29th of August, and all executive officers, senators, and external committee chairs must attend. “The SGA Retreat will provide a way for the organization to become closer and form a more coherent working relationship. We will focus and long and short term goals and reevaluate our student services,” related Vice President, Colin Al-Greene, who has taken leadership in organizing the retreat.
The purpose of the retreat is not only to orient new members to the rules and regulations of the organization, as well as training members to be more effective representatives. Just as importantly, it is a crucial team building exercise, allowing senators, officers, and chairs experience working with each other. "It is important we invest time and money into our organization to make sure we are properly trained to best serve the student body,” said Al-Greene. For these aforementioned reasons, the retreat will be a major step towards an improved and more attentive Student Government over the 2010-2011 school year.
