You are invited to help commemorate the
40th Anniversary of the USA University Library
as a Federal Depository Library
The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to information from its government. Since 1813, depository libraries have safeguarded the public’s right to know by collecting, organizing, maintaining, preserving, and assisting users with information from the Federal Government.
The USA Library became a federal depository in 1968 for the 1st Congressional district of Alabama, through the efforts of then Representative Jack Edwards and the first Government Documents Librarian, Ms. Geraldine Irby. For the past 40 years, this library has been serving the informational needs of the citizens of the southwest area of Alabama.
