LIBRARIAN/HEAD OF INFORMATION SERVICES

University of South Alabama Baldwin County

The University of South Alabama Baldwin County (USABC) seeks a creative, knowledgeable, and technologically-adept individual to provide library services to students at a USABC, a regional campus of the University of South Alabama, and work with both the main campus library and the Fairhope Public Library to provide on-site services.  This person will work closely with teaching faculty to promote information competency across the curriculum.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

● Provide bibliographic instruction, reference services and data base access for USABC students

● Maintain procedures for transfer of library material from USA ’s libraries for both general circulation and reserve use by USABC students

● Liason with other department heads at the main campus libraries for cooperative arrangements to support teaching at USABC

● Develop innovative programs which will provide adequate library services and materials for support of USABC students and faculty

● Supervise PC Specialist position

● Coordinate technology at USABC

● Attend USABC staff meetings and University Libraries Faculty meetings and serve on committees as assigned

● Provide information services for community and economic development of the Baldwin County area

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree from ALA-accredited institution
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technological skills
A creative, flexible and problem-solving attitude
Ability to meet academic promotion and tenure requirements

This is a twelve-month, tenure-track, library faculty appointment at the Assistant Librarian rank.  The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly and service activities expected of tenure-track librarians.
