Locating Books On Your Topic:
USA Libraries Catalog (SOUTHcat) provides an inventory of what we own. Includes e-books, videos, dvds, government documents and reference books and periodical titles and the volumes and issues of the periodicals we own.
Below are some suggested terms to use when searching the SOUTHcat Catalog or journal indexes. Search techniques may vary with each database so look at help screens for suggestions on quotation marks and truncations symbols.

WorldCat from FirstSearch: --huge database of books and other materials owned by U.S. and international libraries. Includes a link for InterLibrary Loan requests.
WorldCat.org. Put in your ZIP Code to link to the closest library nearby that has the item. Can't link to our InterLibrary Loan service the way the FirstSearch WorldCat can.
Free Books Online--a list of websites whch provide links to electronic books.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) -- order books or articles from other libraries; free if in Alabama. Register once; order, check activity, renew online after that.
JSTOR Most entries are full-text; all PDF, slightly (3-5 years) older.
AnthroSource [in the alphabetical list of databases] An archive of American Anthropological Association journals. Also links to JSTOR.
Expanded Academic ASAP [Under Gale/InfoTrac] Some full-text. Use this for the most current articles in a variety of journals.
Academic OneFile [Under Gale/InfoTrac] Some full-text. Use for current articles in a variety of journals.
History Reference Center [Under Ebsco] encyclopedias, reference books, biographies and primary source documents.
Periodicals Archive Online. An archive of backfiles of peridicals in the humanities and social aciences. Latest date available is 1995.
LexisNexis [General News>Magazines and Journals] Use for current articles.
SocINDEX with Full Text [under EBSCO] some full text. Use for current articles.
