The College of Education has approximately 2,500 students with approximately 1,300 of those enrolled in undergraduate programs, making it the second largest college on USA’s campus. During the 2004-2005 academic year we awarded 220 undergraduate degrees, 231 master’s degrees, 12 specialist degrees and 5 doctoral degrees. Eighty-five percent of undergraduates (2003-2004) seeking a teaching position were placed upon graduation.
The College of Education employs 67 full-time faculty, many of whom are nationally recognized in their fields of expertise.
The College of Education is organized into three academic departments: Health, Physical Education, & Leisure Studies, Leadership & Teacher Education, and Professional Studies. Within these three departments we offer fifteen academic programs. The College of Education is accredited by both the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Alabama State Department of Education.
The College of Education offers 5 levels of degree programs (B.S.-Ph.D.) in 11 categories as indicated in the Alabama Commission on Higher Education inventory. Additionally, the college offers 73 teacher education and support personnel certification options approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. |
