The Campus Jazz Band meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8:30-9:30pm in the LPAC rehearsal hall (room 1230) and is under the direction of Dr. Michael Phillips. The group is a non-auditioned group, is open to all USA students, and is a .50 (one-half) credit-hour course.  Performance experience on sax, trombone, trumpet, piano, bass, guitar, drum set, and vibes is preferred. Other instruments will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This ensemble allows students to develop or gain experience in various big band settings, styles, and techniques for the purpose of being a future teacher or recreational jazz musician. The ensemble also prepares students for future auditions as well as provides an opportunity for musicians who may have schedule conflicts with the University Jazz Band.
