Continuing Education Certificate Programs in Alabama
Entering a certificate program can have a host of benefits for your current and future career. USA Center for Continuing Education is proud to offer the following programs to residents of Alabama:
Legal Nurse Consulting
A legal nurse consultant advises attorneys on medical cases. These skilled professionals are in such high demand throughout Alabama that the Alabama Board of Nursing has developed a task force to address this shortage. The work of an LNC is part-time, so you can make extra money without leaving your job as a registered nurse.
Medical Billing and Coding
This certification trains the students in coding and billing patients based on medical history, procedures, symptoms, examination results, and treatment methods. They must also be able to communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure billing is accurate. This is one of the only medical profession positions that does not involve face-to-face interaction with patients.
The U.S. Department of Labor projects the field of medical billing and coding to grow by 22% from 2012–2022.
Nonprofits require competent and well-trained managers to run smoothly. In the state of Alabama, there are over 10,000 nonprofit organizations. This certification program is designed for those who are already working in non-profit organizations in some capacity. The program grants the students the skills necessary to create an efficient workflow for his or her organization.
Paralegals assist attorneys by interviewing clients, filing paperwork, researching cases, and aiding in courtroom preparations. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over 2,000 paralegals work in the state of Alabama. In 2011, the mean salary for a paralegal in Alabama was $45,680.
This program is designed for those who have little to no paralegal experience but would like to become certified in the field.
This program is designed for anyone who would like to expand his or her photography skills, including professional photographers and interested amateurs. Courses emphasize all aspects of the broad field of photography, while also helping photographers develop the business skills they need to be successful. At the completion of the certification program, students will have a portfolio or an exhibit of their work.
The University of South Alabama Certificate in Workplace Coaching is designed for middle and upper management to gain skills necessary to use the "coach approach" with employees. According to a 2009 article by Diane Coutu in the "Harvard Business Review," companies often use the coach approach to develop employees with high potential, address problematic behavior and serve as an employee sounding board. A workplace coach can be a company employee or a contracted individual.
This Certificate program teaches the ability to resolve conflict as a highly-valued professional asset, a means to foster personal relationships, and a life-skill. The USA Conflict Management certificate trains participants on how to resolve differences in the workplace, with friends and family, in the community and beyond. Using the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Continuum, this certificate is designed for working professionals who want to develop advanced communication and process skills.
