The Post BSN track is designed for Registered Nurses who hold a bachelor of
science in nursing degree from an accredited institution.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE MSN TRACK FOR BSN PREPARED RN’S
Students are admitted each semester as space is available in the selected specialty track. Applications should be submitted by April 1 for consideration for fall admission by August 1 for spring semester admission and by February 1 for summer semester admission. Applications received at other times will be considered on a space available basis. The following criteria supplement the Graduate School admission criteria (see Categories of Admission).
All courses
are offered
completely in the on-line format, for the convenience of
working nurses. Students log on anytime and anywhere to complete web-based courses that are expertly designed and highly interactive. Students complete the clinical requirements for the degree in their home communities.

Regular Admission
1. Graduate of an approved bachelor’s program with major in nursing
(All transcripts must be sent directly from the institution attended
directly to Nursing CAS for degree verification).
2. Current registered nurse licensure with no restrictions.
3. Submission of Nursing CAS application and typed, printed, and signed MSN supplemental application.
4. A grade-point average of 3.0 on all undergraduate work (A = 4.00).
5. Submission of a resume which documents clinical experience. (Note: Prior to enrolling in nurse practitioner clinical courses, students are
required to have at least 2 years experience in an area appropriate to
the Specialty track.)
6. After an offer of acceptance is extended - Admission is contingent
upon a completed acceptance packet, negative drug screen, and acceptable
results of a background check.
Provisional Admission
1. Graduate of an approved bachelor’s program with major in nursing

Non-Degree Admission
1. Hold Bachelor's Degree from Accredited institution
2. Current registered nurse licensure with no restrictions.
3. A minimum grade-point of 2.75 on all undergraduate work. ("A" = 4.0)
Enrollment in selective courses may not be available to non-degree students due to class size or required pre-requisites.
All requirements for a master's degree must be completed within five calendar years from admission as a graduate student at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing.
