Christopher R. Freed, Assistant Professor of Sociology, received his Ph.D. in Sociology from The Graduate Center, The City University of New York and has taught at the University of South Alabama since 2008.  Dr. Freed teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Social Problems, Medicine and Society, and the Sociology of Drugs.  His research interests include the medical profession, the sociology and history of drugs, and conceptions of illness.
