Past and Present
Among his accomplishments are Past President of BPD (Association of Social Work Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors), the Rural Social Work Caucus, and the Texas Chapter of NASW. Dr. Daley is currently a member of the CSWE Council on Leadership Development and the Treasurer of the Alabama Chapter of NASW. He has also served as Chair of NASW's National Ethics Committee, a Board member of NASW's Legal Defense Fund, a Delegate to the 2010 Social Work Congress, Chair of the BPD Publications Committee, a Coalition Co-Chair of NASW Delegate Assembly, and a member of NASW Delegate Assembly three times. The Michael Daley scholarship in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin is named in his honor.
His practice experience includes being a Child Protective Services worker and Supervisor. He has also worked as a Research Associate that the Center for Social Work Research at the University of Texas at Austin and the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
His scholarly interests include rural social work, social work ethics, and the social work profession. He has a number of publications in these areas and has made over a hundred professional presentations. He has received service recognition awards from BPD, NASW, and the Rural Social work Caucus.
