USA’s QEP on Collaborative Learning

As part of the SACS Reaffirmation process, every university and college must implement a project with the goal of positively impacting student learning over a five year period.  Based on input from faculty, staff and students, we have selected “collaborative learning” as our topic.  This five year project will explore and test ways that faculty can facilitate student learning in groups or teams. Our project plan involves the following steps:

  1. Conduct workshops to help faculty design and manage group activities that promote learning and get students to work together as teams.
  2. Select up to 20 faculty for a pilot study in Fall 2012 and another group for Spring 2013.
  3. Submit findings from the pilot to the SACS team when they visit USA in April 2013.
  4. Incorporate SACS’ recommendations and implement the project on a broader scale over the next five years.
  5. Measure and review findings annually.
  6. Submit the impact report to SACS in 2018.
