Welcome to the Southeastern Coastal & Atmospheric Processes Symposium (SeCAPS) web site
A symposium presented by:
The University of South Alabama Chapter of the American Meteorological Society
The University of South Alabama Department of Earth Sciences
The USA Coastal Weather Research Center
What is SeCAPS?
The annual Southeastern Coastal and Atmospheric Processes Symposium is held annually in the spring. Topics to be discussed include tropical and coastal meteorology, hurricane and severe weather safety and awareness, Coastal Processes, the role the media and governmental departments take in public notification of impending natural disasters, and current research being conducted in these disciplines, including a number of South Alabama’s geology, geography, and meteorology professors. We will be hosting a number of speakers, knowledgeable of their respective fields. The symposium will commence on a Friday evening and will continue during the day on the following Saturday.
The symposium will be held in the University of South Alabama Student Center. This will also allow guests the unique opportunity to view the innovative Coastal Weather Research Center and advanced meteorological equipment used by the meteorology students and faculty on campus.
The Symposium will take place on Campus at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. There is no longer any charge to attend SeCAPS (Special thanks to the Student Government Association of the University of South Alabama). However, everyone will have to register separately and you can do so when registration is open. The speakers page will be continually updated as they are confirmed.
