In order to be truly educated you need to know where to find, how to evaluate and how to use information of all kinds. The best way to learn these skills is to actually practice them.

Modules 1-10 offer general information and practice using the library, its homepage, the catalog, reference books, periodical types, controlled vocabulary, and advice on choosing good information sources.

The rest of the modules provide structured assignments for finding information in at least one database in an academic discipline. Your instructors may ask you to do one of these assignments. They are supposed to be self-explanatory, but if you have any questions or problems, come to the Reference Desk on the second floor of the University Library and we will help you learn to navigate the database to finish the assignment.
