How do I know if the install worked?
If you installed SAV correctly you will have the golden Symantec shield in the system tray next to the clock. It looks like this: .

How do I know if my definitions are up to date?
- Right-click on the SAV shield to open the Symantec Endpoint Protection window.
- The status should be in green and say "Your computer is protected". If it does not, click the LiveUpdate button to force an update of the virus defintions.

How do I update my virus definitions?
- Right-click on the SAV shield to open the Symantec Endpoint Protection window.
- Click the LiveUpdate button. This opens the LiveUpdate window. LiveUpdate automaticlly starts updating the virus definitions.
- When the virus definitions update has completed, click the X in the upper rght-hand corner to close the Symantec Endpoint Protection window.
- Should you see the message: "Unable to connect to host: LU1803: LiveUpdate failed while getting your updates" or "LiveUpdate
had an internal error while getting your updates," click on the following link and follow the directions found there. This is a known problem and has been fixed by Symantec.

How do I force an update scan of my system?

- Click the X in the upper rght-hand corner to close the Symantec Endpoint Protection window
