Ted Poston, philosophy @ South Alabama

Welcome.  I’m a philosopher at the University of South Alabama.  I spend my research time thinking about what can be known and what can’t be known.  I think there’s much more that can’t be known than people normally think can be known.  In the words of one of my favorite philosophers, one kind of skeptic is ‘someone who contends that the world contains a great deal of institutionalized pretense to knowledge of remote matters concerning which knowledge is in fact not possible.’

My current research focuses on explanatory coherence and its role in the justification of belief and knowledge. I’m writing a book, Reason and Explanation, defending the plausibility of explanatory coherentism.  If you’re interested in these issues, check out my research page that has links to my articles.
