SOUTHcat Tutorials

Ellen K. Wilson, Instructional Technology/Reference Librarian, Marx Library

This series of tutorials aims to provide an overview of SOUTHcat, the library catalog for the libraries at the University of South Alabama. The library catalog contains records for books, e-books, journal titles, DVDs, CDs, videos, and government documents held by the libraries.

To access the tutorials, use the menu in the left sidebar of this page. If you are unfamiliar with the catalog, we recommend that you work through all the modules. Individual modules can also be used as a refresher course.

Each module consists of a brief video tutorial, as well as a text overview of the steps involved in each module. To view the videos, you will need to have Adobe's Flash player installed on your computer (free for download from the Adobe Flash website). The length and file size of each video tutorial is listed below each video. The videos have sound, so please make sure speakers or headphones are available.

Several related non-video tutorials are also linked from the left sidebar.
