Nurse Residency Program Information

Vanderbilt University Medical Center Perioperative Nurse Internship Program

The Perioperative Nurse Internship is a 12-week course to teach BSN prepared Registered Nurses how to perform the circulating role in the operating room. Scrub skills will be introduced as well. Interns can be new graduates or experienced professionals that are new to the Operating Room. You are hired as a full time employee before the program begins and start earning wages and benefits on the first day of the program.
The Perioperative Nurse Internship program projected start date: July 10, 2017. Opportunities in Adult OR’s.
Applications for the July 2017 Perioperative Nurse Internship Program are being accepted: February 6 through April 7, 2017.

Baptist Health & Wolfson Children's Hospital Nurse Residency Program-February 2017

Baptist Health, founded in 1955, is North Florida’s most comprehensive healthcare system and the area’s only non-profit, mission-driven, locally
governed healthcare provider.

  • The residency will incorporate core nursing curriculum, competency development, and unit orientations with education focused on clinical skills, critical thinking development, communication skills, and managing patient responsibilities and priorities. Best practices in learning and practice development will be employed.
  • The residency will be 12 months in length with an initial three months of training. During this time, participants must be flexible in scheduling and willing to work and travel to all Baptist facilities.
  • Participants will be asked for a two-year commitment to Baptist Health.

New AACN-CDC Fellowship Opportunity in Occupational Safety and Health for Doctoral-Level Nurses

AACN is pleased to announce a new fellowship opportunity focused on occupational safety and health through the CDC’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL). Funded by the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), this fellowship provides the opportunity to work with a national organization on a project that will monitor personal protective equipment (PPE) usage as it relates to hazards within a hospital setting. The fellow will assist in all aspects of the study including developing surveillance questions and metrics, collecting data, analyzing data, and helping to be strategic in dissemination schemes.

The fellowship opportunity is open to Doctoral-level prepared nurses looking to improve occupational safety and health. This fellowship term is a 6-month period beginning in February 2017 and is located at CDC headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. Applications for the fellowship are due Friday, September 30, 2016. Mayo Clinic Externship Program

We are currently accepting applications for our Summer III Nursing Externship Program.  This program is a ten week paid opportunity for nursing students to work under the guidance of experienced Mayo Clinic Registered Nurses.  The Summer III Program has a long standing record of helping nursing students expand and develop their critical thinking skills as well as practical skills.

To be eligible to participate, students must have:

  • completed the junior year of a four-year accredited baccalaureate program in nursing, including completion of 2 semesters or 3 quarters of clinical nursing experience
  • have a satisfactory academic record
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion which must not expire before August 2016.

Department of Veterans Affairs - SE Louisiana

The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System has been allocated five nursing trainee positions: Nursing Administration, Clinical Nurse Leader (Masters), Nurse Anesthesia, Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Research Practicum (Pre-Doctoral) by the Office of Academic Affiliations. Students will receive a stipend and complete at least 480 hours to 1000 hours depending on the nursing specialty. These are competitive trainee slots with the possibility of being hired after the trainees completes their educational program and obtains the appropriate credentials.
