John Benton Wins First Stimpson Scholarship at USA

The first Stimpson Brothers Leadership Scholarship, totaling $5,000, was awarded to John Benton of Deer Park, Ala., a University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business Real Estate major with a 3.96 grade point average. Benton works in the USA Center for Real Estate Studies, is involved in the ROTC program and demonstrates strong leadership skills. He also received a $2,000 Turner-Heggeman Memorial Scholarship, which is given to an outstanding real estate major. The Stimpson family recently met and presented the award to Benton at a special luncheon.

The Larson Edge Real Estate Scholarship was awarded for the first time at the annual Honors Day sponsored by the Mitchell College of Business. The $1,000 award recognizes the 50 years of service Mr. Edge gave to the community. He was employed by Volkert Engineering and established their right-of-way department. He is credited with the creation and implementation of procedures for right-of-way acquisitions and appraisals, which have become industry norms. Previously, he was a professional appraiser who worked for clients throughout the southeastern United States.

The Bill Moss Scholarship is in honor of a longtime instructor and past president of the Alabama Chapter of CCIM. He taught the CI-Intro course numerous times at Gulf Shores and instructed students from the southern areas of the state.

Prestigious Commercial Association Awards Scholarship
University Students are Recipients
The Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama/Northwest Florida Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® and the Society SIOR Foundation have awarded Deepa Rajan at the University of South Alabama a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of her academic excellence at the University. Deepa received a bachelor's degree in accounting and is enrolled in the University, attending more real estate courses.
