Mission

The Whiddon College of Medicine Simulation Center is dedicated to advancing medical education and patient care by providing innovative simulation-based learning for medical students, residents, and providers.

Location

The Whiddon College of Medicine Simulation Center is located on the third floor of the Health Simulation Building (HSIMB). The Whiddon College of Medicine Simulation Center also facilitates simulation events at USA Health University Hospital and USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital. 

Hours

The Whiddon College of Medicine Simulation Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Capabilities

The Simulation Center is equipped with multiple clinical simulation laboratories, control rooms, and dedicated debriefing spaces.

The standardized patient lab includes twelve clinical examination rooms, facilitating active learning through standardized patient encounters.

The high-fidelity lab includes six hospital rooms, equipped with full-sized human patient simulators. Available simulators include Elevate Apollo, Elevate Lucina, Elevate Luna, and Gaumard Pedi-Hal.

The task trainer lab includes a large space for skills training. A listing of available task trainers can be requested.

All clinical simulation areas and debriefing spaces are monitored by cameras and microphones, enabling video recording and real-time observation to enhance debriefing sessions and provide personalized assessments for participants.

The Center collaborates closely with various departments, course directors, individual faculty members, and other healthcare organizations to design educational experiences and learning objectives that effectively integrate simulation into the curriculum.
