Faculty Recital USA Woodwind Trio and USA Brass Quintet Concert April 21

The University of South Alabama proudly presents the USA Faculty Woodwind Trio and the USA Faculty Brass Quintet on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. The concert opens with Paul de Wailly’s “Aubade” featuring the USA Faculty Woodwind Trio followed by the famous “Quintet for Brass" performed by the USA Faculty Brass Quintet. Other selections for the evening by the woodwind trio will include “Sonatina” by Philip Wharton, “Caprice sur des Airs Danois et Russes” by Saint-Saens (featuring Dr. Jasmin Arakawa on piano), and “Cantina Band” from Star Wars by John Williams and arranged by Dr. Andra Bohnet. The brass quintet will round out the evening with “Balkanika: Four Scenes from the Balkans” by Eric Ewazen and “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla.

The USA Faculty Woodwind Trio’s members are Dr. Andra Bohnet, flute, piccolo, whistle; Dr. Rebecca Mindock, oboe, English horn; and Dr. Kip Franklin, clarinet, bass clarinet. The members of the USA Faculty Brass Quintet are Dr. Peter Wood and Dr. Joe Nibley, trumpets; Ms. Jodi Wood, horn; Dr. Greg Gruner, trombone; and Dr. Will Petersen, tuba.

Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only).
