The University of South Alabama Department of Music will present the USA Electroacoustic Music Concert on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature works by internationally-renowned composers and exciting interpretations by world-class performers. David Z. Durant, professor of music at USA, will direct the program.

The featured performer for this year’s concert will be Esther Lamneck, Professor of Music at New York University. The New York Times calls Esther Lamneck “an astonishing virtuoso.” She has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras, with renowned chamber music artists, and an international roster of musicians from the new music improvisation scene. She will be performing works by Alfonso Belfiore, who is the Chair of the Electronic Music Department and Coordinator of Music and New Technology at the Conservatory "Luigi Cherubini" in Florence, Italy; Mara Helmuth, professor of music at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and former president of the International Computer Music Association; Jorge Sosa, assistant professor of music at Malloy College; and USA’s own professor of music David Durant. Durant will also be performing on piano a piece by Sosa and joining Lamneck in a piano and clarinet improvisation.
