Dr. Kevin Ayesh will perform the second of four Piano Camp Faculty Recitals on Tuesday, July 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The emphasis of this year's piano camp is Romanticism and the Music of Frederic Chopin, hence Dr. Ayesh's program will feature Chopin's Sonata no. 3, and the Etudes Nos. 3, 4, 5, 6 and 12 from his opus 10 collection.

Tickets for this Department of Music event will be sold at the door only. General admission is $5 for all attendees other than Piano Camp participants. Musical Arts Concert Series passes will be honored for these concerts. About the performer

Dr. Kevin Ayesh, received his Bachelor of Music degree with highest honors from the University of Texas; his master’s and doctorate degrees are from the University of Maryland. At Blue Ridge Community College (an all-Steinway School), Ayesh teaches courses in applied and class piano, as well as music theory, history, and appreciation. As a North Carolina Visiting Artist for four years, he appeared before thousands across that state, performing as many as 75 recitals in a season. Ayesh is in frequent demand as performer, adjudicator, and clinician. In 2013 he was the guest artist-teacher at the Lindlar International Piano Festival in Germany; in 2011 he presented a master class at Hong Kong Baptist University. He has adjudicated Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) auditions for the Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, and has been a featured clinician at both the Georgia and South Carolina Music Educators Association conventions. He has been a finalist in several national and international competitions, was awarded Second Prize at the Wideman International Piano Competition, and won both Third Prize and Composer's Prize at the New Orleans International Piano Competition.
