On September 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, the Archduke Piano Trio will perform in concert. Comprised of violinist Enen Yu, cellist Guo-Sheng Huang and USA piano professor Robert Holm, the Archduke Trio will perform works by Mozart, Middleton and Suk.

The Piano Trio in C major is the fourth of five mature trios composed in the last five years of Mozart's life, featuring well-balanced voicing between instruments and 3-part counterpoint. Retired USA composer Owen Middleton's one-movement piece was written for and dedicated to the Archduke Piano Trio, exhibiting frequent tempo and character changes throughout, and utilizing themes from the same composer's opera "Snick Snickers." And finally, the Czech composer Josef Suk, Dvorak's pupil and son-in-law, composed the three-movement Piano Trio in C minor, op. 2 while still a student at the Prague Conservatory.
