USA Flute Choir & Celtic Crúe Spring Concert April 12 at Laidlaw
Posted on April 10, 2018 by Keith Bohnet
The University of South Alabama Flute Choir and Celtic Crúe, directed by Dr. Andra Bohnet, will present their Spring Concert on Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. In addition to works for the full ensemble, the students will also be featured in chamber works for smaller groups.
After a brief intermission, the Celtic Crúe will present sets of toe tapping jigs, reels and achingly beautiful slow airs performed on simple system Irish style flutes. They were honored to be selected to perform at the 45th Annual National Flute Association Convention in Minneapolis in August 2017. This is the only ensemble at the collegiate level in the country that combines traditional instruments and culturally appropriate instrumental techniques with a flute choir like sensibility.
Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for USA faculty & staff, USA students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only).
