Senior Guitarist Alec Thompson Completes Spring Recital May 28

Graduating senior guitarist Alec Thompson

USA student guitarist Alec Thompson successfully completed his Senior Guitar Recital on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.  The concert was presented in front of an empty house due to coronavirus protections, and all personnel involved in this concert maintained proper social distancing per university and local guidelines.
 
This recital was the culmination of Thompson's time as a student at South Alabama.  As an undergraduate performer, he was a member of several elite ensembles, including the USA Guitar Ensemble, and also functioned as a key part of USA's Music Business program.
 
Alec Thompson's final recital was presented in partial fulfillment of the degree Bachelor of Music with Concentration in Elective Studies in Business.  Thompson is a student of Mark Habib.

His concert program included the following pieces -- 

Romanza (a 19th Century work of anonymous origin)

Prelude No. 4 by Heitor Villa-Lobos

Cavatina by Stanley Myers (arranged for guitar duo by Anthony Glise)

Julia Florida by Agustin Barrios

La Catedral by Agustin Barrios

Guardame las vacas by Luis de Narvaez

The Ballads (Suite for Guitar) by Nikita Koshkin

Bourree in E minor by Johann Sebastian Bach

Prelude in D major by Johann Sebastian Bach
