USA Double Reed Day

Come and join us for the Double Reed Day Opening Concert on January 24 at 9:30 a.m. in the USA Laidlaw Performing Arts Center! The event features guest artist Dr. Jeff Keesecker (Florida State University) on bassoon, USA faculty Dr. Amy Selkirk on oboe and English horn, and members of the USA Double Reed Studio performing many works that show off these wonderful instruments of the woodwind family. Graduate student and pianist Alexandra Harvey will also be a part of this performance.

After the concert and throughout the day, Double Reed Day participants will have the opportunity to attend reed-making classes for their instrument and participate in masterclasses led by the DRD faculty. The day will conclude with a large double reed choir rehearsal and performance, in which all participants are invited to perform. Chemical City Reeds will also be on site throughout the day offering a look at instruments, reed-making supplies, and other double reed merchandise. This full DRD event is open to double reed players of all ages and ability levels. The cost of attendance is $20, which includes lunch and a t-shirt.
