Robert Holm Piano Camp Faculty Recital June 22 at 3:00

USA Professor of Music Dr. Robert Holm will perform the opening concert of the 2026 USA Piano Camp with a Faculty Recital on Monday, June 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Since this year's Piano Camp is concentrating on music of the late Romantic Era, Dr. Holm's recital will feature the Grieg Piano Sonata in E minor, Rachmaninoff's Preludes op. 23, nos. 1-6, and Brahms' Paganini Variations.

Admission to this Department of Music concert is free and open to the public. Persons needing more information about this event or in need of special accommodation may call 251-460-7116 or 251-460-6136.

About the performer
Robert Holm is Professor of Music, head of the keyboard area at the University of South Alabama, principal pianist for the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, and pianist for Spring Hill Baptist Church.  Holm earned the D.M.A. degree from the University of Illinois and was a finalist or prize winner at the Liszt Competition in Italy, at the Bartók-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev Competition in Virginia, and at the International Beethoven Sonata Competition in Tennessee. Holm has appeared as soloist with various ensembles including the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Mobile Youth Symphony, and the Mobile Symphonic Pops. He has performed as soloist and collaborative artist at Steinway Hall in London, at Carnegie (Weill) Hall, at Shaoxing University (China), at Lakehead University (Canada), and at UNICAMP and Tatuí Conservatory in Brazil. At the University of South Alabama where he began teaching in 1997, he has performed more than 60 solo recitals including sonata cycles by Mozart and Beethoven, over 280 collaborative recitals with faculty and guest artists, and over 200 degree recitals with students.  In 2020, Holm received the University of South Alabama Dean’s Lecture Award, and served as the USA Arts & Sciences commencement speaker. He is the recent recipient of the 2025 Alabama Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year Award and will be inducted into the Steinway Teachers Hall of Fame in October. In 1988, Holm performed as part of an 88-piano ensemble with Chubby Checker and the Rockettes at Superbowl XXII in San Diego.
