Stop by the University of South Alabama Office of Community Engagement lemonade stands to get a refreshing cup of lemonade and find out how you can serve on campus or in Mobile and surrounding communities.

The University of South Alabama Office of Community Engagement invites students, faculty and staff to discuss volunteer opportunities during “Squeeze Service Into Your Schedule” events held throughout March and April.

Representatives from South’s Office of Community Engagement will be available at various campus lemonade stands, providing information on how to get involved with community service on campus and in the community. “When the USA community stops by the lemonade stands, they can enjoy a refreshing cup of lemonade along with a friendly smile,” said Brandi Purvis, assistant director of campus and community engagement. “The purpose of setting up the lemonade stands is to remind USA students, faculty and staff to squeeze service into their schedules. All service matters, no matter how much time one can commit. Providing good service to the community is the USA Way.”

South supports volunteer efforts and encourages faculty and staff to participate in the Employee Community Volunteer program. Under this program, employees may receive paid time off to volunteer with the approval of their supervisor.

Lemonade stands are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on:

  • Monday, March 23, at the College of Nursing
  • Thursday, April 2, at the College of Education and Professional Studies
  • Thursday, April 9, at the Frederick P. Whiddon Administration Building
  • Thursday, April 23, at the USA Student Center
  • Tuesday, April 28, at the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions

In case of rainy or severe weather, the lemonade stand date will be rescheduled.
