Jennifer Mills Named Assistant Vice President of Sponsored Projects Administration

Jennifer Mills has been named assistant vice president of sponsored projects administration in the Office of Research and Economic Development. She most recently served as executive director of the Research Administration & Development Office in the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.

The University of South Alabama Office of Research and Economic Development has named Jennifer Mills assistant vice president of sponsored projects administration. 

Mills most recently served as executive director of the Office of Research Administration and Development in the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. In her new role, she will provide leadership and oversight to the sponsored projects administration team, supporting proposal and budget development, submissions, reporting and post-award processes.

She brings extensive experience in research administration, research training and advanced analytics-based reporting. Mills is a Certified Research Administrator and an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators.

“I'm excited to step into the role of assistant vice president for sponsored projects administration,” Mills said. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside faculty staff and leadership to support research growth and streamline processes that strengthen and empower the research enterprise.”

Prior to joining South, Mills served as manager of electronic research administration, training and reporting at the University of Alabama. In that role, she directed electronic reporting for the university’s research enterprise and developed training programs for research administrators. She also previously served as a senior grants and contracts specialist at UA, managing submissions and awards for more than 15 departments.

“Jennifer Mills is a highly qualified research administration professional, and I look forward to her taking a substantial leadership role in managing our institutional portfolio as we focus on growing research at South,” said Dr. Allen Parrish, vice president of research and economic development.

She holds an executive MBA from the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in English from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
