The University of South Alabama has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Global Universities in a ranking released this week. Of the 2,250 universities in more than 100 countries named in the ranking, only 280 of the nearly 4,000 universities in the United States are listed.
“Being recognized as one of the best universities globally is an extraordinary honor for the University of South Alabama,” said USA President Jo Bonner. “This distinction is a testament to the unwavering dedication, innovation and hard work of our outstanding faculty and staff.”
The U.S. News Best Global Universities ranking was based on 13 indicators that measure each university’s academic research performance and their global and regional reputations. The indicators included:
- The percentage of highly cited papers that are among the top 1 percent most cited,
- Global and regional research reputation, and
- Publications for scholarly research, particularly in the social sciences and arts and humanities.
“Our faculty’s commitment to academic excellence, student success and research has elevated our beloved university on the world stage,” said Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Andi Kent. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and excited for the future as we continue to grow and make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.”
