USA Faculty Member Invited to the White House

Dr. David Meola, Fanny and Bert Meisler associate professor of history and Jewish studies at the University of South Alabama, has been invited to the White House to attend “Communities in Action: Building a Better America” on Thursday, Sept. 14.
The event is part of a White House series featuring local elected officials and community leaders working to improve the lives of people around the country.
“I am honored to have been invited to the White House to discuss building a better Alabama with the Biden-Harris administration,” Meola said. “I am also excited to be traveling to our nation’s capital to represent Alabama and Mobile at this national meeting with leaders from across the United States.”
Meola, director of the USA Jewish & Holocaust Studies Program, is also co-president of the Mobile Area Jewish Federation, a Presidential Leadership Fellow in the USA Office of Diversity and Community Engagement, a Fulbright Fellow and a member of the Alabama Holocaust Commission.
