USA Kicks Off Mobile Heart Walk Fundraising Campaign

The University of South Alabama has launched its campaign for the 2026 Mobile Heart Walk to benefit the lifesaving research and advocacy of the American Heart Association. The main walk will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, starting at 8 a.m. outside the USA Mitchell Center.
USA leadership unveiled a participation goal of building more than 20 registered teams across the University and USA Health.
“The Heart Walk represents one of the most impactful ways our University community comes together to serve a cause larger than ourselves,” President Jo Bonner and Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Andi Kent said in a joint statement. “Heart disease touches nearly every family in the Gulf Coast region. By rallying our faculty, staff, healthcare professionals and students, we are demonstrating our commitment to advancing medical breakthroughs and fostering a culture of health across Mobile and surrounding communities."
Combining fitness and philanthropy, the annual noncompetitive walk brings together corporate teams, individual participants, survivors of heart disease and stroke and community advocates. Participants walk to encourage healthier lifestyle habits while raising critical funds to combat cardiovascular disease and stroke.
“Our partnership with the American Heart Association reflects South’s deeply rooted mission of promoting discovery, health and learning,” said Vice President of Community Engagement Joél Billingsley. “Every dollar raised, and every step taken by our team members directly aids the American Heart Association’s efforts to improve overall cardiovascular health and reduce premature deaths from stroke and heart disease throughout our region.”
USA’s combined efforts align directly with the American Heart Association’s broader initiatives to expand cardiovascular health awareness and dramatically reduce mortality rates nationwide.
