ROTC Cadet Earns Prestigious Training Award

Political Science Major William Carol is the current Cadet Battalion Executive Officer, a member of the Catholic Students Associations, captain of South's Army ROTC Ranger Challenge team and a member of the USA Triathlon Club.
Over the summer, Cadet Carol graduated from the U.S. Army Cadet Summer Training and the Army's Scout Leaders Course. At Cadet Summer Training in Ft. Knox, he graduated with the prestigious RECONDO badge, which places him in the top 25% of more than 5,400 cadets nationwide that attended the training.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Kurt Chapman, South’s chair of Military Science, who runs South’s Army ROTC program, “Cadet Carol is a natural leader who consistently strives to challenge himself and develop all cadets in the program both physically and academically. He spends much of his free time studying material far beyond the scope of the ROTC curriculum to better prepare for his future in the Army as an officer and a soldier.”
After graduating Cadet Summer Training, Carol continued demonstrating the excellence of South by being one of only nine cadets that completed the Army's Scout Leader Course. Not only did he complete the prestigious training, but he was one of only five cadets that received the prestigious Skill Identifier, which provides future opportunities within the Army. When Cadet Carol graduates next spring, he will earn a commission in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant.
