Two pathology residents at USA Health have been elected to the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Resident Forum Executive Committee for the 2026-27 term, securing two of the committee’s seven seats nationwide.
Maha Babker, M.D.
Maha Babker, M.D., a third-year resident, and Rasha Mohammed, M.D., Ph.D., a fourth-year resident, were elected during the CAP Annual Meeting, held Oct. 3-6 in Las Vegas. Their appointments highlight the department’s participation in national pathology leadership – representing nearly 30% of the committee – and its commitment to resident advocacy and professional development.
Babker was elected digital strategy liaison, a position focused on expanding the Resident Forum’s digital presence, improving communication and engagement through digital platforms, and promoting educational and leadership opportunities for pathology residents nationwide.
Mohammed was elected member-at-large. In that role, she will represent resident perspectives, contribute to committee initiatives and discussions, and advocate for resident education, professional development and engagement within the College of American Pathologists.
Rasha Mohammed, M.D., Ph.D.
In addition to their leadership appointments, Maha Babker, M.D., and Rasha Mohammed, M.D., Ph.D., also presented scholarly work at the annual meeting alongside three additional pathology residents: Jing Zhou, M.D., Ph.D., Delaney Yu, D.O., and Charu Shastri, M.D. Their participation highlights the department’s ongoing research and academic efforts.
The residents’ leadership appointments and conference presentations reflect their commitment to advancing the field of pathology, supported by faculty mentorship and residency program leadership, said Osama R. Elkadi, M.D., director of the pathology residency program and an associate professor of pathology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.
