CPR Initiative

Mission Statement 

"Our mission is to empower students at the University of South Alabama with the knowledge and skills to confidently respond to cardiac arrest emergencies through comprehensive CPR and AED training. By integrating these life-saving skills into the student experience, we aim to foster a culture of preparedness, promote community resilience, and ultimately save lives." 

Impact Statistics

In our first year, we trained 775 students, nearly 42% of the incoming freshman class. 
- 43% increase in the willingness to intervene
- 55% increase in confidence performing hands-only CPR
- 70% increase in confidence using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- 97% of students could properly identify symptoms of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest after training
