Remembering Professor Axsmith
Posted on June 1, 2020 by Jeremiah Henning

The passage of time has not made the passing of Professor Brian Axsmith any easier.
As a department, as a university, and as a community we are still hurting. We’ve lost
a great friend, colleague, and teacher but we all have so many great memories of Brian.
For many of us, Brian’s passing made the harsh, cruel reality of the COVID-19 pandemic
real. As the pandemic continues to ravage communities across the globe, the biology
department, is urging all of you and your families to stay safe.
Over the last couple of weeks, several fantastic articles have been released detail
and eulogizing Professor Axsmith.
Thank you Dr. Claire Jarvis for you kind, beautiful word about Brian in The Scientist.
Thank you Marjorie Valbrun for your efforts to document and eulogize all the faculty
members we’ve lost to COVID-19 in Inside Higher Education.
