USA Elects 2026-27 Student Government Association Officers

The 2026-27 USA Student Government Association officers have been announced. From left are President Karrington Foley, Vice President Kennedy Williams, Treasurer James Lawrence III, Chief Justice Helen Hendrix, Attorney General Sydnee Cantley and Student-at-Large Parker Richardson.

University of South Alabama recently announced the newly elected 2026-27 Student Government Association officers.

Karrington Foley, a senior professional health sciences major with a concentration in management from Huntsville, Alabama, has been elected president. She is a graduate of Sparkman High School. 

“I am elated to serve as the next president of the USA Student Government Association,” Karrington said. “When I first stepped on campus, I knew it was a place of great opportunity, but I never imagined that I would become president of the SGA at South. I am grateful to the students for voting for me. And, I am thankful to those who have pushed me to excel and seek ways to become a better version of myself.”

Foley, who also serves as the 2026-2027 Miss Old Gold and Black for the Theta Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, plans to use her role as president to create a positive impact on students. 

“My vision for SGA is to create a more vibrant student culture, while strengthening and improving student engagement,” she said. “I am eager to get started and see all that we accomplish together.”

Foley is a member of the USA NAACP, where she serves as membership chair. She is a member of the Black Student Union, Women of Excellence, Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Green Jags and Mortar Board. Foley recently completed an eight-month internship with USA Health’s Anaesthesia Services. 

The 2026-2027 USA SGA leadership team includes:

Vice President Kennedy Williams is a junior political science major from Pascagoula, Mississippi. Williams is a graduate of Resurrection Catholic High School. At South, she is a member of the Honors College, Phi Mu Sorority, Southerners and Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. Williams was a Freshman Leadership Scholar and was named Southerner of the Year for 2025. She is the recipient of the Sigma Chi Derby Darling Award for 2025 and the Excellence in Political Science Award for 2024-25 and 2025-26. 

Treasurer James Lawrence III is a junior communication major from Eufaula, Alabama. Lawrence is a graduate of Eufaula High School. At South, he is a member of the Black Student Union and president and membership chair for the Collegiate 100.

Chief Justice Helen Hendrix is a sophomore from Mobile,  majoring in biomedical sciences.  A graduate of Baker High School, she serves as vice president for South for St Jude and is a Mortar Board member. She served as the SGA director of campus advocacy in 2025-26 and First Year Council campus safety and improvement chair in 2024-25. She has gained early acceptance into the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine and holds membership in the USA Honors College. Additionally, she is a USA resident assistant in the Epsilon residential hall and a member of the Resident  Assistant Advisory Board. 

Attorney General Sydnee Cantley is a junior majoring in advertising and public relations. She is a native of Fairhope, Alabama, and graduated from Fairhope High School. Cantley is a member of the Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega. She is a feature twirler in the Jaguar Marching Band and the author of a children’s coloring book, "Bee Healthy.” Cantley is the 2025-26 Miss University of South Alabama and the recipient of both the Miss America Empower Award and the National Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

Student-At-Large Parker Richardson is a freshman in advertising and public relations major from Mobile, Alabama. A graduate of Baker High School, he is a member of the First Year Council, Jaguar Productions, the USA Public Relations and Marketing Committee, the Convocation Speaker Selection Committee, Green Jags and the Meteorology Club.
