Three University of South Alabama students have been awarded scholarships through the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to study abroad during the 2026 awarding cycle.
The awardees are:
- Molan Abdallah, a biomedical sciences major, who will receive $3,000 to study in Spain this summer.
- Krys Freeman, an international studies major, who will receive $3,000 to study in Thailand next spring.
- Jordan Simmons, exercise science major, who will receive $2,500 to study in Greece this summer.
“We are thrilled for our three students who will have the opportunity to study abroad through the Gilman Scholarship,” said Dr. Bri Ard, executive director for global engagement. “As always, none of this would be possible without the support of the International Education advising team, who go the extra mile every day for our study abroad students.”
The U.S. Department of State’s Gilman Scholarship is part of a grant program that enables students to study or intern abroad, gaining skills that are critical to national security and economic prosperity. The nationally competitive Gilman Scholarship is open to undergraduates nationwide and fosters cultural exchange.
