Coming from a proud family of Jag alumni, Mobile native Stacy Sergeant graduated with a degree in marketing with a concentration in personal sales in 2019. Shortly after graduation, he launched his career, accepting an entry level position with Stryker, a medical instruments and devices corporation. Sergeant was quickly promoted and now serves as the territory manager of Stryker’s  ENT instruments division. His time at the Mitchell College prepared him for the challenges and successes he faces in the marketplace today.

While an undergraduate student, Sergeant found the support he needed within the collegiate community and excelled. He received the Mitchell Scholarship– a $50,000 competitive scholarship awarded to meritorious incoming students– and spent much of his time working for the Mitchell College, attending events as a Mitchell Ambassador, or with his fraternity brothers at Kappa Alpha.

“The Mitchell Scholarship allowed me to attend USA debt free and have a deeper relationship with the faculty,” Sergeant said. “My experience was amazing…there are ample opportunities to get involved and connected with faculty, companies, and business people.”

Today, Sergeant’s biggest motivator is his family. He recently proposed to his high-school sweetheart: she said yes! Together, they enjoy spending time outdoors with their golden retriever, Moose, and family in the Mobile area. The couple has plans to start their own family in Mobile and continue supporting the Jags. When he isn’t traveling for work or with family, Sergeant stays active and is currently training for a triathlon.

“My ‘Why’ is my family and wanting to have a successful career that allows me to spend time with my family but also provide for them,” said Sergeant. “Take every opportunity you can, even if you are unqualified, but if you have the choice, do not settle for a job that makes you unhappy.”
