Counseling and Instructional Sciences Master’s Programs

The Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences at the University of South Alabama offers fully online programs for the Master of Science in Instructional Design and Development, Master of Science in Educational Media and Technology, and Master of Education in Educational Media-Library Media. Students can also pursue a Master of Education in School Counseling or Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Master of Education in Educational Media-Library Media (online)

Students who earn a Master of Education in Educational Media are eligible for certification in Library Media. The fully online program is designed to prepare students to plan, design and administer library/media centers. Graduates qualify to serve as school library media specialists in a P-12 educational setting.

Master of Education in School Counseling

The Master of Education in School Counseling graduate program prepares culturally competent graduates to work as advocates and leaders in pre K-12 school settings through the design and implementation of data-driven comprehensive school counseling programs aligned with the ASCA National Model that benefit and support the academic, career and social-emotional development of all students.

Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree program prepares culturally competent, advocacy driven counselors and, to develop a mindset of social justice and community responsibility in students, while fostering a common professional identity that both honors and embraces the diversity each student brings to the program.

Master of Science in Educational Media and Technology (online)

The Master of Science in Educational Technology degree can be completed fully online. The program prepares educators to design, evaluate and implement educational and instructional technology in the classroom. Through coursework and practical experiences in instructional design and information science, students will learn to use a diverse set of technological tools for design and development of effective instruction.

Master of Science in Instructional Design and Development (online)

The Master of Science in Instructional Design and Development graduate program is offered fully online. Graduates learn the information and skills training to analyze instructional tasks, design and deliver instructional programs, and perform evaluative procedures on instructional products and services. Instructional designers are in high demand in all sectors of the economy - business, industry, K-12 schools, higher education, and local, state and federal government.
