Alex Linton

Grant Skinner

Hometown: Smyrna, Tennessee

Bio: Grant Skinner is from Smyrna, Tennessee. He is studying Broadcast Meteorology and a minor in Music. Having not previously marched before college, he learned marching and began his career with the Jaguar Marching Band in his freshman year. He was selected to be a mellophone section leader in his sophomore year and was selected later that year as Head Drum Major. He has also been involved in the USA Wind Ensemble, USA Symphony Band, and the USA Symphony Orchestra throughout his academic career. In addition to the JMB, he is also involved in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Student Leaders United, and the Meteorology Club. He enjoys spending time with friends as well as watching and playing various sports. Grant has been in the JMB for two years. Outside of the JMB, Grant enjoys spending time with friends as well as watching and playing various sports.

Bio: I am an Exercise Science major with a Spanish minor going into my senior year. This will be my fourth year in the JMB, and I served as a piccolo section leader last year. After graduation, I plan to attend South Alabama's Occupational Therapy school. Outside of the JMB, I am a part of the Honors college and work as a lifeguard. I’m so excited for this year!

Bio: I will be starting as a Graduate Trumpet Performance Major who is entering his first year with the JMB. I graduated from Mary G. Montgomery High School and obtained my Bachelor’s in Music Education from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS.

Jessica Mandel

Hometown: Aurora, IL

Bio: I am a first year masters student majoring in Music Performance, and this is her first year as a graduate assistant with the JMB. My undergraduate degrees are in Music Education and Oboe Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Outside of the JMB, Jessica is also a private oboe teacher along the Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast, the alumni advisor for the Zeta Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, and serves as principal oboe in the Alabama Winds.

Bio: I am working on my M.M. in Music Performance. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with my B.M. in Music Education. This will be my sixth year in the JMB, and my second serving as a Graduate Assistant. Apart from the JMB, I teach private flute lessons, play in a Celtic flute group, and sub with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. I have always loved the enthusiastic environment of the JMB and I cannot wait for another amazing season. Go Jags!

Bio: I am a Senior Music Education major. This will be my 4th year in the JMB and I served as trumpet section for two years before becoming a Student Assistant. I am also the current President of the Epsilon Delta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia here at South! I am excited for our first season in the new stadium, and as always, Go Jags!

Bio: I am a senior at the University of South Alabama majoring in Music Education and Performance. This is my fourth year participating in the JMB. I have previously served as one of the piccolo section leaders and this is my first year as a student assistant. I am a member of the Zeta Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota. Outside of JMB and playing my flute, my hobbies include baking and crocheting.

Bio: Israel Valenzuela is currently a senior at the University of South Alabama. He plays saxophone and is a Music and Outside Studies major. He is a part of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and has been a member of different ensembles. Outside of band, Israel enjoys exploring different genres of music and spending time with family or friends.

Bio: Michaela is an upcoming senior, majoring in Anthropology with a minor in sociology. Outside of the Jaguar Marching Band, she is also involved in the USA Honors College, Alpha Omicron Pi, Jags for Liberty, and the Student Anthropological Society. In her free time she enjoys eating wings, watching documentaries, and reading.

Bio: I am a Senior Music Education-Instrumental Major, and this is my fourth year with the JMB. Outside of band, I enjoy reading, writing music, and meeting new people! I am both sad and excited for my last year in the JMB, but I have greatly enjoyed my time with this organization and know this season will be one of the best ones yet! When school is not in session, I work full-time as a Chick-Fil-A Team Member.

Bio: I am a Mechanical Engineering major with a concentration in Aerospace Engineering. I enjoy participating in new projects on drones and satellites through the Facility for Aerospace Systems and Technologies Laboratory, or FAST Lab for short. I like to participate in the Society of Women Engineers and I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. For my hobbies, I enjoy listening to and playing music, especially in the USA Steel Band.

Bio: Hi! I’m Madisen. I am a Junior Elementary Education major and this is my third year in the JMB! This is my second year as captain of the Fabulous USA Color Guard. I love going and volunteering my time at local elementary schools to get some time with the students and to help fellow teachers!

Outside of the JMB some things I enjoy are hunting, fishing, and spending time with those who I am close with.
