Grant Skinner

Grant Skinner

Hometown: Smyrna, Tennessee

Bio: Grant is studying Broadcast Meteorology and a minor in Music. Having not previously marched before college, he learned marching and began his career with the Jaguar Marching Band in his freshman year. He was selected to be a mellophone section leader in his sophomore year and was selected later that year as Head Drum Major. He has also been involved in the USA Wind Ensemble, USA Symphony Band, and the USA Symphony Orchestra throughout his academic career.

In addition to the JMB, he is also involved in the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Student Leaders United, and the Meteorology Club. He enjoys spending time with friends as well as watching and playing various sports.

Cecelia Prentiss

Hometown: Biloxi, Mississippi

Bio: Cecelia is beginning her first year of South’s Master of Occupational Therapy program. This past May I graduated from South with my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a minor in Spanish. This will be my 5th year in the JMB and my 2nd year as Assistant Drum Major. I am a piccolo player and served as section leader for one year as well. Outside of band, I enjoy teaching swimming lessons over the summer and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to spend one final year with the JMB and can’t wait to see everyone in the stands this season!

Destin Hinkel

Hometown: Hurley, MS

Bio: Destin is in his second year as a master’s student here at the University of South Alabama. I completed my undergraduate here at USA, and I taught public school band in the area before returning full time to graduate school. I’m excited to be returning as a graduate assistant for the JMB, and while I was an undergrad I served as the trombone section leader. I remain active as a private trombone teacher in the community, and I continue to play with university ensembles! I currently reside here in Mobile with my wife, Jessica and our dog, Zoey.

   
Cody Morrison

Cody Morrison

Hometown: Huntsville, AL

Bio: Cody earned his Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of South Alabama, and is currently completing his studies for a Master's Degree in Music Education. After earning his undergraduate degree, Cody spent a year as the band director at Choctaw County High School, and has worked with a number of other middle and high school band programs in the Mobile and Baldwin County area. Cody is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Hometown: Prattville, AL

Bio: Nathan Shadix is a 2016 graduate of the University of South Alabama where he earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education. After completing his degree, he spent the next four years teaching elementary, middle, and high school music at Bayside Academy. Nathan is excited to return to his alma mater as a graduate assistant and to be working with the Jaguar Marching Band.

Bio: Bethany is a senior Music Education major here at South. This will be her fourth year in the Jaguar Marching Band. Before becoming a Student Assistant, she served as a Mellophone Section Leader for two years. I am also currently the Vice President of Membership of Sigma Alpha Iota. I am looking forward to having another great season on the field!

Bio: Destiny is a senior Music Education major. This will be my fourth year in the JMB. I served as trombone section leader last year, and this will be my first year as a student assistant. I spend most of my time involved in the music department, where I play in several ensembles and serve as Vice President of Ritual for our chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.

Bio: This season I will currently be a Junior majoring in Music with a concentration in Specific Outside Fields to apply to Vet School in the summer! This will be my third season with the JMB and I am so excited!
Outside of band I serve on the executive board of SAI, volunteer at a local wildlife center, and spend lots of time outdoors with my dog Maple!

Bio: Jaishon is majoring in Music with concentrations in Music Education and Instrumental Performance. Outside of the JMB you can catch me reading, cooking/baking, or working at the Mobile Symphony. I’m also a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and collegiate mentor for Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra. I’m looking forward to this new marching season. If you see me around say “Hi.” Go Jags!

Bio: I am a senior studying music education. This is my third year marching with the Jaguar Marching Band and my second year serving as one of the JMB clarinet section leaders! Outside of band and school, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening, and traveling.

Bio: I am a senior Music Education major and this will be my fourth year in the JMB. I have performed in many other ensembles as well, including Clarinet Choir, the USA Wind Ensemble, the USA Symphony Orchestra, and a handful of other woodwind ensembles. Outside of band I spend my time catching up on my favorite shows or walking around our local parks. Besides being a section leader, I also have the privilege of serving as the President of the Zeta Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota.

Bio: I am a third year Mechanical Engineering student here at South. I am President for USA's Society of Automotive Engineers chapter, Outreach Coordinator for USA's Society of Women Engineers chapter,
and a JagPAL. Outside of school, I proudly represent 9 state-wide indigenous tribes as Miss Indian Alabama for 2021. I also actively attend Destination Church in Saraland during the school year. I am

Besides the  MB, I am also a member of the University of South Alabama Catholic Student Association and am currently president of the USA Future

Outside of South, I work full-time at Chick-fil-A, as well as gigging and performing in the Baldwin and Mobile area. I enjoy studying macrobiology and conservation, playing tennis, longboarding, and cooking.

Bio: Besides being a proud member of the JMB, I’m a Biomedical Sciences major with a Spanish minor of the Honors College. Meanwhile, I’m involved in SGA as an Associate Justice and additionally govern Green Jags as President. This is certainly reflected in my home that displays several assorted plants. I always enjoy a yummy smoothie or hot teas whether I’m studying or playing Just Dance.
