CCP Student Awards

This section describes the CCP Student Awards. These awards are given annually in recognition of exceptional performance on the part of CCP Students. The Associate DCT will be responsible for coordinating the awards process; however, all CCP Core Faculty will participate in the reviewing, rating, and ranking of nominees.  In addition to being described in this Handbook, the CCP Student Awards are described on the CCP Program Website and are discussed with new CCP students during New Student Orientation, including inviting the prior year’s award winners to speak to the new students about these areas of training. The selection of awardees is announced at the immediately following CCP Brown Bag meeting and included in the annual CCP newsletter. The awardees are also recognized at the annual Psychology Department Awards Ceremony, typically held in April each year.  Specific information about each of the three awards is provided below.

The CCP Outstanding Masters Student Award

This award is given to a student enrolled in the MS Program of Study in recognition of exceptional overall performance across several domains, including research, applied clinical services (i.e., treatment, assessment, & consultation), service, advocacy, professionalism, collegiality, leadership, and CCP program community engagement (e.g., serving as cohort representative on GSO, peer mentoring, etc.). Though the award is given annually, the credentials considered and reviewed will encompass the student’s effort throughout their time enrolled in the CCP Program.
CCP Students enrolled in the MS Program of Study are eligible for this award. Students in their first or second year who entered the CCP Program with a Master’s degree are not eligible for this award. CCP Students who have previously been selected for the CCP Outstanding Masters Student Award are not eligible to receive it a second time.
Nominations for this award will be solicited via electronic polling disseminated annually on February 1 to all CCP Faculty and Students. Nominations will remain open for a period of two weeks. Any CCP Faculty or Student may nominate an eligible student for this award, including self-nominations, peer-nominations, and faculty-nominations. Nominations will be anonymous. At the closure of the nomination period, nominees will be informed via email that they were nominated. Nominated students decide whether they wish to accept the nomination and submit support materials or withdraw their name from consideration.
CCP Students who are nominated and who wish to be considered for the award must submit their (1) current curriculum vitae (CV) and (2) a statement that speaks to their performance relative to the noted areas. Support materials will be collected using a Google Form that will be reviewed holistically by the core faculty. The statement will be collected via areas pertaining to the domains comprising the award (i.e., clinical training and applied skill development, service and advocacy, professionalism, collegiality, leadership, and CCP program community engagement). The CV will be uploaded in the Google Form. The deadline for submitting supporting materials will be one month following the notification of nomination and solicitation of supporting materials.
Once the deadline for accepting the nominations and submitting support materials has passed, the submitted materials will be provided to all CCP Core Faculty along with links to the evaluation rubrics for each award. Faculty will have two weeks to review and rate nominees’ materials. The aggregated ratings by domain will be presented to and discussed by the CCP Core Faculty at the April CCP Faculty Meeting. Following discussion of the nominees, CCP Faculty will individually rank order the nominees. The nominee with the greatest number of number 1 rankings will be identified as the award winner. Instances in which multiple students receive the same number of number 1 rankings will be co-winners of the award.

Though the award is given annually, the credentials considered and reviewed will encompass the student’s effort throughout their time enrolled in the CCP Program. The award winner is required to deliver a Clinical Ground Rounds Presentation at a CCP Brown Bag meeting during the following academic year.
