Demonstration of Research Readiness

All CCP students must demonstrate that they are prepared to initiate the dissertation project, a relatively independent empirical research study, by the end of their second year. Such readiness can be demonstrated in one of three ways. You can use the links below or the navigation menu in the top right of the screen to see details regarding these methods of satisfying the research readiness requirement. 

1. Students who enter the CCP Program in the MS Program of Study will complete a Master’s Thesis Project. Students who enter the program without previously completing a Master's Degree will use this method to satisfy the research readiness requirement.
2. Students who enter the CCP Program in the PhD Program of study and who completed a Master’s Thesis as part of their prior MS degree can submit this project for review to demonstrate research readiness. 
3. Students who enter the CCP Program in the PhD Program of study, but did not complete a Master’s Thesis as part of their prior MS degree can complete a First Year Project. A First Year Project is similar to a Master’s Thesis with the exception that it does not need to be submitted to the Graduate School.

All CCP Students are expected to complete the Demonstration of Research Readiness by the conclusion of their second year in the program. CCP students who have not successfully completed the Demonstration of Research Readiness at the end of their second year in the program may not be allowed to continue in the program. There are unique rules regarding students’ continued participation in the CCP Program that are determined by which Program of Study they enter into. These are described below in regard to the specific Demonstration of Research Readiness Project they are required to complete.
