DayZero Places 3rd in Southeast Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition
Posted on October 18, 2023 by Keith Lynn

Members of the DayZero student organization were selected to attend the Southeast Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) 14-15 October in Augusta, GA. Unlike other cyber competitions, CPTC focuses on mimicking the activities performed during a real-world penetration testing engagement conducted by companies, professional services firms, and internal security departments around the world. The team competed as one of 10 universities from the southeast region including Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, Florida Institute of Technology, Mercer University, Middle Georgia State, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of South Florida, and University of West Florida. Placing third in this highly competitive event highlights the cybersecurity skills and talent the students are learning as part of SoC’s curriculum and workforce development opportunities. DayZero is a USA student organization, sponsored by AM/NS Calvert and the Center for Forensics, Information Technology, and Security (CFITS), dedicated to furthering cybersecurity knowledge and skills through participation in regional and international cyber competitions and capture-the-flag events.
