Amazon Business


The University of South Alabama has partnered with US Communities and to provide an Amazon shopping experience for business and institutional customers.   This contract will allow USA staff and faculty the ability to purchase products tax exempt from the entire Business catalog via the US Communities Amazon Business Online Marketplace contract R-TC-17006



Not all items listed on the Amazon website are products sold and shipped by Amazon. There are third party sellers on the site as well (details in the fine print). To avoid potential issues concerning USA's tax-exempt status, Amazon recommends only purchasing products sold and shipped by If a department is charged taxes and/or shipping after buying items sold through third party sellers, obtaining a credit for charged taxes and/or shipping is the responsibility of the ordering department. 


Creating an Account

Interested users must contact the USA Purchasing Department to set up your Amazon Business account.  Do not use your USA P Card for any Amazon accounts without requesting an account through the Purchasing Department.





Through Amazon Business, you will have immediate access to:

Free Shipping. Typical delivery is four days after placing order.
Business pricing and quantity discounts on a growing selection of items
Enhanced search and browse functionality
Access to a specialized Customer Service team for business customers only
*Everything else you know and love about shopping on will remain the same.


The contract includes the entire Amazon catalog plus 11M new products including, but not limited to:

·         Office Supplies, Equipment, and Furniture

·         Classroom, School, Art Supplies and Materials

·         Food and Grocery

·         Musical Instruments

·         Books

·         Audio Visual and Electronics

·         Scientific and Lab Supplies

·         Clothing

·         Animal Supplies, Equipment, and Food

*User departments will have the option of tying their accounts to AmazonSmile with USA as the recipient organization. When customers shop on AmazonSmile (, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers (can be designated as USA).


Eligibility Requirements

Amazon Business accounts require payment via USA Purchasing Card.  No other payments types are accepted. If you do not currently have a USA Purchasing Card, please contact the USA Procurement Card and Travel Services Department at or (251) 460-6646.
