Local high school students in the Student Training for Academic Reinforcement in the Sciences (S.T.A.R.S.) and Special Training to Raise Interest and Prepare for Entry into the Sciences (S.T.R.I.P.E.S.) Program visited the Covey College of Allied Health Professions on Friday, July 8, to hear from faculty and students and learn about the allied health programs offered at South. The S.T.A.R.S. and S.T.R.I.P.E.S. Program is sponsored by the University of South Alabama Center for Health Communities Center of Excellence and strives to engage gifted minority students in science, research and training to promote awareness of health disparity and to create a support system that facilitates college readiness and interest in pursuing careers in the health sciences. You can learn more about the Stars & Stripes outreach program from USA's Center For Healthy Communities webpage or their USA's Center For Healthy Communities Stars & Stripes Facebook page.
