Dr. Heidi Lyn – Principal Investigator

Dr. Heidi Lyn is a Professor and has worked everywhere from Hawaii to Harderwijk (the
Netherlands) studying animal intelligence and communication with previous positions
at UCLA, the New York Aquarium and St. Andrews University. She has extensively published
studies on the brain, cognition, and communication in animals, including the differences
between large and small dogs, environmental influences on intelligence and social
behavior in apes, the communicative and cognitive behaviors of sea mammals such as
dolphins, belugas, and walrus, and on neural and behavioral correlates in nonhuman
primates. Her research has been published in such journals as Psychological Science,
Animal Cognition, and Developmental Science and featured in books as well as Scientific
American and Science magazines.
