For Parents

South Alabama Entrance Sign

Welcome Jag family! We are so excited that your student has chosen to attend South. We will continue to hold online orientation sessions, in addition to offering optional, in-person events that are tailored to incoming students. The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our highest priority. For updates on the University’s response to COVID-19, please visit the Coronavirus Updates page.

For previous semesters, we held virtual orientation sessions for parents to learn more about South and ask our panelist questions. During these sessions, we covered topics such as student life on campus, safety and health, academic success, career services, student financial services, housing, and more.  These session were so successful that we wanted to offer this opportunity to parents again.

Every first Wednesday this summer (June-August), we hosted a Lunch & Learn Parent Orientation session with new featured panelists each month. See below for recordings of these sessions.

A recording of the June session, featuring Student Affairs, Student Health, Title IX, Counseling & Testing Services, and Student Financial Services, can be accessed here.

A recording of the July session, featuring USA Housing, Dining, Bookstore, and Alumni, can be accessed here.

A recording of the August session,  featuring Academic Affairs, Academic Success/Advising, Career Services, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion can be accessed here.
